Born and based in Singapore, Tan Choon Huat's passion for photography began at the age of 15 when he persuaded his father to buy him his first camera (the Minolta X-700). His keen interest in people and life itself has seen him working in the areas of photojournalism, event photography, and travel photography for more than a decade.
His pictures have been seen in a variety of publications, and he has photographed for a diverse range of clients such as the Housing and Development Board (HDB), Ministry of Education (MOE), Applied Materials South-east Asia, Tuas Power, GlaxoSmithKline, Simmons South-east Asia, Lighthouse Worldwide Solutions, Breitling, Sembawang Kimtrans, Singapore Cancer Society, and Lions Befrienders. He has also been the photographer at many weddings, to which he brings a distinctive photojournalistic approach that issues in a unique visual story of that special day.
His works were exhibited at the Singapore Art Museum as part of Nokia Singapore Art 1999, and in 2001, he was an award winner in the A Day In The Life Of Singapore photo competition.
Beyond photography, Choon Huat also has an avid interest in the fields of psychology and theology, for which he holds the Bachelor of Science (Psychology) from Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia; the Bachelor of Psychology from Murdoch University, Western Australia; and the Master of Theological Studies from Trinity Theological College, Singapore. |
